This year, AMEVIDA and its Oberhausen location have won the Inclusion Prize, which has been awarded by the City of Oberhausen and the Oberhausen Employment Agency for the past four years. The nominees were honored at an awards ceremony yesterday evening and the winners for 2021 and 2022 were announced.
"We are delighted that our efforts to include employees with disabilities at AMEVIDA have been recognized in this way," says Konstantinos Vatmanidis (4th from left), Inclusion Officer at AMEVIDA, who received the congratulations from Oberhausen's first mayor, the Equal Opportunities Officer and the Managing Director of the Employment Agency.
At AMEVIDA, it goes without saying that people with disabilities are part of the team. A total of 130 employees with disabilities currently work here. At our site in Oberhausen, there are currently 24 out of around 200 employees. "Inclusion has always been deeply rooted in our corporate DNA. We have organized the necessary framework conditions and opportunities at our company in an exemplary manner and offer many people with disabilities the best possible working environment," explains Dr. Matthias Eickhoff, CEO and owner of AMEVIDA.
For this reason, the conditions, such as barrier-free access and routes, as well as disabled-friendly premises are a matter of course at all AMEVIDA locations - as is the representation of severely disabled employees elected by the employees. The individually adapted set-up of the respective workplace for new colleagues with disabilities is organized in advance: "We take care of all the preparations, including contact with authorities, the regional association and health insurance companies. And the workplaces are also equipped in a way that is best for the new colleagues," explains Konstantinos Vatmanidis. It is not without reason that this year's diversity ranking by the news magazine Stern awarded AMEVIDA second place in the service sector.
