Supporting employees during the coronavirus pandemic

Over 20% of AMEVIDA employees have children and are responsible for their care.
Therefore, affected colleagues will continue to receive their wages for this first week of kindergarten and school closures.
Although there is no legal entitlement to continued payment of wages due to the announced length of the closures in accordance with Section 616 of the German Civil Code (BGB).
§ Section 616 of the German Civil Code (BGB), AMEVIDA has decided otherwise.
"We have taken numerous measures to protect the health of our employees at this time.
But now more is needed: we will enable our employees to look after their children at least for the coming days from 16.03.2020 to 22.03.2020, with full continued payment of wages as in the event of illness," says Dr. Matthias Eickhoff.
Employees must provide evidence of this in writing to their line manager in order to ensure planning.
"We are making this unbureaucratic approach possible in gratitude for the work employees have done for AMEVIDA so far, voluntarily and without legal entitlement, of course, and in the hope that the legislator will find a solution that is acceptable to everyone in the coming days," Eickhoff continued.
