There hasn't been this much excitement and anticipation at the daycare center on Julius-Frisch-Straße for a long time.
For days, people dug and excavated in the garden, machines made a lot of noise and the sandpit was a huge construction site.
It was so exciting that the children had their noses pressed against the window panes the whole time.
But now the time has come - the new water playground is finished!
"We are incredibly happy that we can now get started," says Martina Dohle, the head of the daycare center, happily with the children.
"The little ones are already so excited."
The so-called mud facility was made possible by a donation from AMEVIDA, the call center operator headquartered in Gelsenkirchen.
"First and foremost, we want to do something good and put a smile on the children's faces," explains Dr. Matthias Eickhoff, spokesman for the AMEVIDA Management Board.
"Of course, we are also looking forward to making the name AMEVIDA better known in Gelsenkirchen and the surrounding area and introducing our company to potential employees."
The call center giant is hoping to recruit a particularly large number of new employees among young mothers and fathers.
This is because AMEVIDA is not only constantly on the lookout for reinforcements at its seven locations in NRW, but also offers an extremely flexible working time model.
"This is particularly interesting for young families or single mothers and fathers," adds Eickhoff.
The little rascals in the nursery are not yet worried about this.
They want to bake their mud pies and build sandcastles.
"Without AMEVIDA, a facility like this would hardly have been possible in the long term," says Martina Dohle.
"Now everyone is looking forward to the official opening next Thursday with hopefully great weather and definitely lots of happy children."
